Hokie Wellness offers a range of programs to start the new year. They include:
Jan. 10, 12-1:30 p.m.: Winter Training: REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Emergency Response: Anyone can experience and develop an addiction. Learn more about opioids and addiction, and how to respond in an emergency – and possibly reverse an opioid overdose. You will receive a REVIVE! emergency response kit and the opioid overdose reversal drug Narcan (Naloxone) free of charge. The program will be held in the Steger Hall Conference Center. Registration is required.
Jan. 12, 8-9 a.m.: Koru Basic Mindfulness: This four-week virtual program will teach the skill of mindfulness and show how meditation can help improve mindfulness. We’ve found that people get much more out of the course if they participate in the entire program; therefore, attendance at all four sessions is required. Space is limited and registration is required.
Jan. 13, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Manifest Your Future: Craft a Vision Board: Start the new year with a plan. No matter your goals, a vision board – a visual representation – is a great tool to have during your journey. The program will be held at the North End Center, room 2420. Registration is required and space is limited.
Jan. 18 and 27, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches how to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. Visit Hokie Wellness Mental Health First Aid for more information and to register.
Jan. 20, 12-12:30 p.m.: Information session on LiveHealth Online: Hokie Wellness invites all Anthem COVA Care Members to attend a virtual session on LiveHealth Online, a robust telehealth platform that provides access to a variety of medical professionals including board-certified physicians, licensed therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, allergy specialists, and more. Registration is required.
Jan. 25, 12-1 p.m.: The Six Dimensions of Well-being: A Whole Person Approach to Nourishing Your Health: Well-being is the full integration of emotional health, financial security, community connections, purpose, physical health, and social well-being. Learn more about these six dimensions of well-being and how to intentionally incorporate each into daily life. This program will be held via Zoom. Registration is required. Live closed captioning services will be provided.
