The United States has announced a 24-man roster for the upcoming men's World Hockey Championship in Finland, set to begin on May 13.
The team is led by veteran defenders Seth Jones and Nate Schmidt, with Jones being the most experienced player with two previous World Championship appearances to his credit. Schmidt, currently with the Winnipeg Jets, is the oldest player at 30 years old, and is making his tournament debut.
Only one player from USA's bronze medal team is back, with forward Sahsa Chmelevski making a return appearance. Alex Galchenyuk (2013) also has played internationally before.
Goaltender Strauss Mann and forwards Sean Farrell and Ben Meyers were all part of USA's Olympic team that fell in the quarterfinals back in February.
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic projects to be USA's starting goalie, and should be one of the better netminders in the tournament despite coming off a tough 2021-22 season.
Among the prospects in the lineup are Luke Hughes (DET), Jordan Harris (MTL), Thomas Bordeleau (SJ) and Ben Meyers (COL).
USA has won bronze four times since 2013, but hasn't won gold or silver in the era after the Olympics stopped counting as the World Championship back in 1968.
