DARIEN, CT — A new wellness center specializing in anti-aging, athletic recovery and body and mind optimization officially opened in Darien last week.
Located at 883 Post Road, CHECK Body-Mind opened with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on March 1, according to the Darien Chamber of Commerce. During the event, State Sen. Majority Leader Bob Duff and chamber members offered a warm welcome to Founder Amber Kemp and her team.
“Being open for business in Darien feels incredibly aligned,” Kemp said in an email to Patch. “I love the charm of Darien and the fact that it is so community centric.”
Kesti Aysseh, the chamber’s executive director, said in an email having a unique business like CHECK Body-Mind in town was very special, as was having a young entrepreneur like Kemp as part of the chamber.
“Coming out of [the ongoing coronavirus crisis], we are focused on our health more than ever,” Aysseh said, “and having a wellness center that speaks to physical, emotional and mental health is paramount. The best part is everyone can benefit, from the teenage athletes to seniors. We are thrilled to have [Kemp’s] energy and spirit on board.”
Based on the principle that “health is wealth,” CHECK Body-Mind offers a comprehensive list of services, including whole body and localized cryotherapy, IV Drip, whole body LED light therapy (PBM), compression therapy, energy healing, assisted stretching, private yoga lessons, a transformative meditation chamber and more, according to a news release provided by the chamber.
Kemp said what separates her business from other wellness centers in Connecticut is its integrative approach to wellness.
“We feature cutting edge technology and pair this with hands-on holistic specialists to deliver an experience that encompasses mind, body and soul,” Kemp said. “With everything that has transpired on an individual, community and global level these past few years, we all need top-quality resources to keep our mental, emotional and physical health in ‘CHECK.’ There are many factors that we cannot control but our mental, emotional and physical state is something we can.”
She also noted her team was grateful to be able to serve Darien and its surrounding communities in such a positive manner.
According to the chamber, Kemp has lived and breathed wellness since traveling to Nepal in 2014 to undergo an intensive Yoga Teacher Training & Ayurveda program. Since then, she has been committed to studying and implementing integrative wellness modalities, and CHECK Body-Mind represents a culmination and expansion of her life’s work.
The opening of CHECK Mind-Body also represents the chamber’s 13 new member this year, which includes one returning member and a larger company they are currently in talks with, Aysseh said.
She also noted there were a number of local ribbon cuttings and grand openings on the horizon.
“With the development of Darien Commons coming to fruition soon, I expect our membership to continue to grow,” Aysseh said. “It’s all very exciting!”
According to Aysseh, the chamber had about half as many new members this time last year due, in part, to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
“I am confident with the launch of our community mobile app soon, membership will take off,” Aysseh said, “and that only contributes to the economic stability and vitality of Darien.”
