Carson Foster, Drew Kibler and Coby Carrozza will compete for Team USA at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Texas Men’s Swimming’s Carson Foster, Drew Kibler and Coby Carrozza are among 41 USA swimmers selected on Saturday for the 2022 FINA World Championships. The meet will June 18-July 3 in Budapest, Hungary. The U.S. men’s and women’s rosters for the World Championships were selected by way of performances produced at this week’s Phillips 66 International Team Trials.
All three were part of the Longhorns’ record-setting 800-yard freestyle relay team that was joined by Luke Hobson to post an America, U.S. Open and NCAA record time of 6:03.89 at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
Foster earned his first trip to the World Championships with a victory in the 400-meter individual medley and a second-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley. He also earned a spot on the 4×200-meter freestyle relay after placing third in the championship final on Wednesday.
Kibler will make his first trip to the World Championships after previously representing Team USA during the Tokyo Olympics. The 2021 and 2022 Big 12 Swimmer of the Year earned his roster spot via a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle, and will also take part on the 4×100-meter relay.
Carrozza also earned his first international squad roster spot and will compete on the 4×200-meter relay.
