One woman shares her journey with genetic testing and the future of her family.
After living in New York City for 20 years, Ashley and her husband left the fashion world for greener pastures in 2015, and bought a house upstate. As luck would have it, their land had large maple trees along the driveway, so they started tapping them for maple syrup and sharing their bounty with family and friends. Before long, that hobby grew into a full-blown business; they now own a sugar house and produce syrup commercially, selling it to retailers including local hotels, cafes and restaurants.

As their business took off, the couple decided they also wanted to start a family. They soon learned their journey would include in vitro fertilization, as well as doctor-recommended genetic testing. Today, Ashley and her husband are parents to a two-year-old son. After having a child, to understand more about her current state of health and her family genes, Ashley recently took Invitae’s genetic health screen test. Watch the video above to learn why this test was so appealing to her and how understanding more about her health now is so important to her own well-being and the future of her family.
