Brandt rounded out 2021 by acquiring a majority interest in Talc USA. The December 31 transaction will expand on Brandt’s existing portfolio of nutrition and plant health products.
Founded in 2008 by Steve Johnson, Talc USA offers talc-based products to increase yield and improve soil health. The Page, North Dakota-based company has customers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ukraine, and South Africa.
In addition to its talc-based products, Talc USA offers a range of micronutrients, microbials, and inoculants. Their proprietary mixing system provides farmers with a simple and solution-driven approach to product applications.
“I am excited about this transaction,” said Rick Brandt, president and CEO of Brandt, in a news release. “Steve and Lori [Johnson] have built a terrific company that shares our values: We both believe in maximizing plants’ potential and increasing farmers’ ROI through good science, quality products, and world-class service. We are thrilled to welcome Talc USA into the Brandt family.”
Talc USA will operate under Brandt’s specialty formulations unit. Talc USA employees will continue to manage day-to-day operations.
