When Sheila Borders walked into her April 4 meeting with new Grambling State volleyball coach Chelsey Lucas, she already knew her fate. She was going to get cut, along with the rest of her teammates.
Lucas, who was hired in February from rival Arkansas Pine-Bluff, had decided to drop all 19 players and revoke their scholarships. The decision was supported by the school’s administration, including athletics director Trayvean Scott.
