What’s happening around the NFL today?
Quarterback drama. Literally, all quarterback drama.

“We’re about to make him the highest-paid player in franchise history,” Kingsbury said last week after practice.
It appears this situation is soon to be resolved. Any doubts about Murray’s future as a Cardinal can probably be put to rest, because Murray is about to get paid.
Wait, lowercase probably doesn’t tell the whole story. He’s about to get PAID.
How much?
$45 million per year seems likely, per ESPN projections. Whew.

“After [Clowney] returned to Cleveland, there was a report that he accepted less money to return. There were also a few reports that Clowney was not going to return to play with QB Baker Mayfield but was excited to play with Watson once again including a report that the defensive end sold Watson on coming to the Browns.”

Oh yay, more Browns news!
“[The Browns are] willing to take on a fair amount of Baker’s salary,” said NFL reporter Albert Breer. “Like nine, 10 million dollars.”
This potential Baker-Mayfield-to-Panthers trade is taking longer than it should. If the Browns are willing to basically pay the Panthers to take him, then what’s the holdup? During a time of year where holdouts are common, it’s a breath of fresh air to see someone like Jackson be all business when it comes to showing up for camp.
“I play football,” Jackson said in a recent presser. “That’s what I’m here for.”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for guys securing the bag. If a holdout is necessary, do it. Get your money.
But I have equal respect for a player who bets on himself. Jackson isn’t worried about playing on his fifth-year option in 2022. He knows his payday is coming. Let the play do the negotiating.
