SANDI BINGHAM
IRON MOUNTAIN – Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center has named Sandi Bingham as its new health and wellness coordinator.
Bingham, originally from Illinois, brings an extensive fitness background to her position at the YMCA.
“Our fitness department continues to grow and expand, and Sandi brings the exact type of talent, mindset and leadership needed to promote the mission of the YMCA,” said Ron Deuter, director of the Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center. “We are thrilled to have her join us and look forward to her leadership as we work to continue to fulfill the health and wellness needs of our community.”
Certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Bingham has had various roles in the Chicago suburbs over the past two decades, working for Life Time Fitness, LA Fitness, Homewood-Flossmoor Park Racquet & Fitness Club, Tinley Park District, Mokena Park District and Franciscan Health and Fitness Center in Schereville, Ind.
Bingham has taught all types of fitness classes, including yoga, cycling, kickboxing and strength training as well as CPR/AED training.
“I’m really excited to be joining the YMCA,” Bingham said. “My true passion has always been fitness, and I can’t wait to get going, helping people from all walks of life on their health journey.”
Fitness classes — excluding spin — are included with YMCA membership. Bingham hopes to also bring some new class offerings to the Dickinson Center schedule.
“I’d like to spend my first few weeks popping in on some classes, getting to know our members and learning how we may be or not be meeting people’s needs,” she said. “For a small town, the Dickinson YMCA is truly a fantastic facility. When it comes to health and wellness, there really is no limit to what we can offer the community.”
The YMCA’s second summer session began July 11. Fall sessions are set to start after Labor Day. For more information, go online to www.nlymca.com/dickinson.
