World Health Organization: More Than 1,000 Monkeypox Cases Reported Worldwide – Breaking Belize News

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Health officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) announced today that there are more than 1,000 Monkeypox cases worldwide.
The WHO says that Monkeypox symptoms include fever, rash, and usually swollen lymph nodes.
 “It is important to distinguish monkeypox from other illnesses such as chickenpox, measles, bacterial skin infections, scabies, syphilis, and medication-associated allergies,” the WHO noted.
On Monday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) raised its alert to level 2 encouraging everyone to take precautions to stem the outbreak.
Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus symptoms include rashes, fever, headaches, muscle ache, swelling, and back pain.
Health officials are concerned and monitoring the recent outbreak across North America, Europe, and Australia.
Although the majority of reported cases have spread through sexual intercourse, monkeypox is not considered a sexually transmitted disease.
