Wai-Tu-Fit 360, a newly inaugurated Wellness and Leisure Club, is pleased to announce the Wai-Tu-Fit 360
Health and Wellness Dance Tour 2022, a high energy fun, health and wellness event. This commences on September 17, at 9:00 am from the Bayfront.
This tour is the first production of synchronized dancing that will travel across various nature sites on the beautiful island of Dominica, encouraging members of the community during September which is carded as Caribbean Health and Wellness month to get active through dance. Our club is a grouping of Industrious women keen on contributing to our community.
We have witnessed the increase in the number of deaths occurring from NCDs and our club feels that through advocacy we are able to help address these health challenges in an attempt to stay the negative impacts on our productive population.
In the past two years alone 63 deaths have been attributed to lifestyle-related NCDs. We have also seen a rise in Breast and Prostate cancers within the populace.
Team Waitufit has curated a social response, and developed health promotional strategies, in a bid to create an enabling environment where our people can live a healthier lifestyle through holistic practices.
On September 17, 2022, we will host our first Health and Wellness Dance Tour.
Our Objectives:
• To echo the importance of health as a human right
• To promote health strategies and social determinants in a community
context
• To create an enabling environment for the most vulnerable in the
community
• To infect others with positive changes and behaviors.
• To echo the relevance of staying positive and rising above our reality
According to President of the club, Mrs. Kimara Matthew, our group has embarked on the mission of encouraging appreciation of self, in our growing membership. We have an exciting health and wellness calendar of events that involves weekly dance workouts, retreats, advocacy, health and sporting events, and lots more. On Saturday, September 17, we will be having our very first Health and Wellness Dance Tour which kick starts from the Bayfront and moves across to different locations around the Island.”
