Thailand’s Minister of Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul, has recently discussed with the U.S. Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary, Arun Venkataraman, the support for bringing Thailand to the forefront as a top medical hub in major areas: wellness, medical services, products, and academics.

The Minister reiterated Thailand’s policies to place the country in the position of a “Hub of Wellness and Medical Services” with world-class medical facilities and healthcare services at highly competitive prices in Bangkok and other tourist destinations. The Government has also created a “medical visa” for those in need of receiving medical treatment, attending rehabilitation, or taking care of a patient, allowing them to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government is pleased to work with Thailand in terms of health and medical aid, including co-investment, medical technology transfer throughout the supply chain, and the development of genomic medicine, advanced therapy medicinal products, healthcare professionals, and medical innovations.
