A woman has reportedly been murdered at Hanil USA, a manufacturing business in Tallassee, Alabama and a suspect is in custody
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. today, according to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin. His deputies were called to assist on scene. The matter is under investigation by the Tallassee Police Department.
Authorities are not releasing the identity of the victim at this time. What we do know is that the suspect, Clifton Potts, 44, of Tallassee had just been released from prison Thursday from a facility in Atmore. Most recently he was serving time for a drug charge, but has multiple other arrests over the years.
The victim was employed at Hanil USA and the shooting occurred in the parking lot, Franklin said.
“What we know at this time is the suspect and the victim were in a vehicle at the facility and some type of argument occurred. One round was fired at the victim. She was able to try and escape. More shots were fired at the victim at the rear of the building, and she was dead on scene.”
The Potts suspect reportedly left the scene which began a manhunt. He was located in the parking lot of a Phenix City Hotel a short time ago, after a pursuit involving a Police K9, Franklin said.
At the time of this report, he was being booked and we will release his mugshot when it becomes available.
No further details are immediately available, but we have reached out to the Tallassee Police Department which is handling the investigation.
The Hanil companies have a forty year supplier relationship with Hyundai and Kia. Hanil USA, at its Tallassee, AL site, manufactures brake and fuel line bundles for every Hyundai and Kia automobile manufactured in the United States.  The Tallassee manufacturing facility was constructed for Hanil USA in 2007 strategically located between the Hyundai and Kia manufacturing plants, the only plants they maintain in the USA.
