The Madras Wellness Center building broke ground in 2021, and the finish line to its completion is just around the corner.
Last Friday morning, the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce hosted a walk-through of the building, located just east of St. Charles Madras.

"We're really honored to be a part of this community effort, and to work toward building a great Madras community," said Struck.
The building features a modern style, with sleek finishes of light wood and tile in the open and airy space full of windows.
The building will be shared by Jefferson County Public Health and Mosaic Medical, a nonprofit medical group that has clinics across Central Oregon, including a clinic in Madras and at Madras High School, as well as a mobile clinic used to serve unhoused populations with both medical and behavioral support.
Mosaic Medical will occupy the north section of the building. Their clinic will feature 12 exam rooms, a lab, three dental chairs and a pharmacy, which will be open to their customers and the general public.

"Mosaic is open to everyone. If you need services, if you need help, we're here to support you."

Mosaic Medical has served over 3,000 people in the last 18 months in Madras, through their clinics, including over 100 unhoused individuals.
The south section of the building will be the new home for Jefferson County Public Health. It will hold their offices and the WIC program as well as exam rooms and labs.PMG PHOTO KIVA HANSON - Jefferson County Public Health's Johnathan Courtney shows where his new office will be while touring the building. The wellness center also features a joint community room, designed to host gatherings, events and classes, including cooking classes from dieticians using the full kitchen.
The building is nearing completion, with plumbing fixtures, tile and lighting currently going in. Floors, furniture and outside landscaping remain. Mosaic and JCPH hope to move into the building in April, and open to patients in late April.
The project's estimated cost is $8.9 million, funded in large part by Oregon lottery funds and the gifted land from St. Charles Health System.
"This new building is a testament to the county and the community putting health first. Even if you never set foot in the building, you will see the benefit these services will provide for the community," said Dr. Michael Baker, director of Jefferson County Public Health.
