UPPER MERION — The King of Prussia District is getting ready to shine a spotlight on the health and wellness community — as it launches its first Wellness Week, Feb. 7-13.
The event is designed to raise awareness of the businesses in Upper Merion and to help residents put their New Year fitness goals into action. It will feature seven days of deals, workouts and events focusing on health and wellness.
“Many are also offering in person or virtual special events ranging from cooking demonstrations to lectures to wellness assessments,” Rachel, Ammon, marketing and communications director for the King of Prussia District, said in an emailed response to questions. The King of Prussia District is an organization that supports economic development efforts in the area.
Ammon added that the organization had been thinking about a wellness event for a while, but didn’t envision that the first one would be held during a pandemic.
“That said, there’s really no better time to focus on your health and wellness than now,” she said, adding that many people may not be aware of the district’s “thriving” health and wellness scene.
More than 45 businesses have signed on to participate in the weeklong event — including healthy eateries, athletic apparel retailers, medical professionals, aesthetic professionals, spas and gyms.
“We hope that participating businesses will see an increase in foot traffic during Wellness Week and will also gain some customers that will continue to come back beyond Feb. 13,” Ammon said.
She added that the district is also hoping residents and the “60,000 people that work in King of Prussia” will start to see the region as a place that can help them achieve their health and wellness goals for 2022 and beyond.
The King of Prussia District is selling $20 “Sweat Passes,” which will give people open access to LA Fitness and the Upper Merion Community Center, as well as access to special workouts at several King of Prussia-area fitness centers. Sweat Passes come with swag bags with product samples and special offers as well as a KOP Wellness Week T-shirt and water bottle.
Visitors to the King of Prussia District website will find information about Wellness Week, including a rundown of Wellness Week workouts and events, a directory of wellness practitioners and retail stores. Visitors can also purchase their Sweat Pass online, so they can sign up for classes and open gym access during the week.
