Dear DePauw Students, Staff and Faculty,
We are excited to start spring ’22 term and see so many of you back on campus after a chilly winter break. This email provides updates and reminders on processes and changes to the COVID-19 mitigation strategies so that you know how to plan and what to expect this term.
This email contains additional information on:
Over the last 18 months, we have learned that our most effective testing is done when students, staff and faculty are feeling under the weather or are concerned about contact with someone who has tested positive or who is exhibiting symptoms. Therefore, during the first few weeks of the spring term, we are offering scheduled asymptomatic testing for students, faculty and staff. Students, staff and faculty can make an appointment for antigen testing Monday through Friday.
In addition, at-home testing has become widely available. We encourage everyone to stock an at-home test in case you experience illness when the DePauw Health Wellness Center is not open, as these tests will be more convenient if you experience illness after hours. Individuals should consult their health insurance policies for details about covering the costs of at-home tests. Additionally, a limited supply of no-cost tests are available to each household here.
As a reminder, those who are symptomatic should contact DePauw Health and Wellness (765-658-4555) to request an appointment. Our goal is to ensure that those who wish to be tested but do not have access to at-home testing are able to be tested during this time frame.
All students, faculty and staff are required to report their COVID-19 vaccine and booster information. If you haven’t already, please report your booster here:
The current mask usage policy can be found here
As of Jan. 17, masking with a surgical mask, KN95, KF94 or equivalent is required in all indoor public locations, with limited exceptions
*While surgical masks offer significantly more protection than cloth masks, KN95 and KF94 masks offer even more protection due to their fit and filtration.
Individuals are responsible for providing their own masks, however, most offices on campus have masks available should students or employees need one. All students and employees are empowered to remind others to mask in indoor public spaces and point them to places with available masks.
Please consciously monitor your symptoms throughout each day. If you develop symptoms while you are on campus, stay in your room, do not attend classes or other in-person activities and contact DePauw Health Wellness Center at 765-658-4555 (clinic hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider. If you develop symptoms over the weekend, email [email protected] and a COVID-19 team member will reach out to you. In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, it is imperative that symptomatic individuals stay away from others and seek medical care, which may include testing for COVID-19. Current protocols for close contacts and positive individuals can be found here.
Thank you for your continued consideration,
