Pompey Women midfielder Freya Jones has left the club to complete a scholarship in America.
The 18-year-old progressed through the ranks at Pompey in the Community in her youth days.
And she broke into the first team during the 2020/21 season, appearing in both the Hampshire Cup and PDFA Cup finals.
She officially stepped up from the development team in September 2021, with her first-team bow being Pompey’s 11-0 victory over Hounslow.
Blues boss Jay Sadler said: “It’s a bittersweet moment with Freya. We’re obviously disappointed and upset to be losing her, but on the other hand we understand it’s an exciting opportunity for her next steps in football.
“We’ve lost a grafter, someone who knows what it means to play for Pompey. She’s a great character who’s grown through the PitC system, and ended up being a mainstay in our midfield.
“I’ll always remember that cup final performance against Bournemouth. She was simply everywhere.
“A tenacious player who has the world at her feet. With a very heavy heart, I wish her all the best.”
