GRAND RAPIDS, MI – May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so Grand Rapids Public Schools and Kent County’s community mental health authority, Network 180, teamed up to offer district families a series of free mental wellness workshops.
Families can still take advantage of the remaining two of three workshops this month. Network 180 reached out to GRPS’ Parent University to partner on the initiative to provide sessions on different aspects of mental health.
For those attending the two upcoming events in-person, childcare, interpretive services and refreshments will be provided, according to GRPS.
The next workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, “Stress Management for Families” and is available from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Sibley Elementary, 943 Sibley St NW.
Each interactive learning session will be live streamed on Facebook @Network180 @GRPSparents, and recorded for later viewing, and broadcasted on GRTV, a service of the Grand Rapids Community Media Center.
A workshop is also scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, “Talking To Your Child About Mental Health,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at GRPS University, 1400 Fuller Ave. NE.
The workshops will be conducted by Network 180s Angelina Quezada-Reynolds and Maija Grisa.
If you have questions, contact the district at (616) 819-1977.
