Christian Pulisic reflects on growth of soccer in USA » Chelsea News – Chelsea News

Christian Pulisic may not be at Chelsea for much longer, but even in his few years at the club he’s brought a whole slew of new American fans to the club.
Now he gets to return to his native America on the preseason tour, and while out there the Chelsea official website (don’t forget we’re owned by a largely American consortium now) did a really nice long interview with the winger about how he’s seen the game progress over there.
“It’s cool to see how far along the sport and the MLS team has come here. Getting to play against them will be a great experience, so I’m thrilled to be back here with Chelsea and be back in the States with a chance to play here again,” Pulisic said.
“The sport in general in America has grown so much since I first started playing over in Europe. It’s really cool to see. When I first moved over, there was a following but now coming back, seeing the amount of Americans with their Premier League jerseys on whatever team it is, it’s cool to see.
“It’s fun to see the support and just how much the sport has grown.”
The attendance at our game in Las Vegas was disappointing, although that’s probably because the tickets were very expensive, and Vegas is a weird, transient place to begin with.
Hopefully the more homely and less glamorous environs of Charlotte, North Carolina will mean a bigger and more enthusiastic crowd for tonight’s game against the home side in their home ground.
Maybe we will really see the growth of the sport in evidence.
