BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Director of Hospital Ministry Rev. Greg Johnson of Broome County Council of Churches is making an effort to spread wellness education and services to the community.
To help people feel better, decrease stress and cope with life. When people have the tools, the happier and more fulfilled they can be.
“Sometimes some people lack the tools, or they may have already heard about this before, and just getting that information again, reignites the passion, ‘oh, I need to do a better job at taking care of myself, mind body and soul,’” said Johnson.
One of the services he wants to provide is healthier coping mechanisms during stressful times.
“Having individuals of faith leading or involved in health care and living healthier lifestyles encourages, I believe, individuals who are not part of the faith community as well as those in the faith community to work on living healthier lifestyles,” said Johnson.
Johnson said the future in his efforts of expanding information is wide open.
He hopes to partner with agencies to do more online seminars as well as hold health opportunities in places like churches to further the encouragement of healthier lifestyles.
This comes after The Hospital Ministry’s “Physical and Mental Health Wellness Seminar” held on March 16 and 22.
Johnson said the seminars went well as it was good to have people interested in participating and being present.
The motive behind the seminar was Johnson recognizing members of the community concerned with vaccinations, so he wanted to gather health care professionals to share information.
