The 15th edition of the ‘Illness to Wellness’ series, themed ‘Emotional Wellness at Workplace,’ was successfully organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), one of India’s apex trade associations.
An expert panel participated in the online event, where they discussed various aspects of creating a work-life balance to deal with workplace stress. The program, which promotes healthy living with a focus on wellness and preventive health through healthy habits, diet, exercise, and holistic health and is sponsored by the hygiene brand SAVLON, saw the speakers discuss the importance of emotional wellness at work.
Among the panel members, Mr. Ajey Vij, senior faculty, Art of Living Corporate Programs, shared his tremendous wealth of wisdom and extensively covered aspects to avoid workplace stress, controlling our thoughts and emotions to be a good leader, and use breathing techniques to enhance emotional wellness while speaking at ASSOCHAM webinar.
Mr. Vij also led participants through practical sessions of breathing techniques. Emotional well-being has always been important, but these unprecedented times have made it even more critical to pay attention to. The session shared simple methods and techniques for emotional well-being, such as living in the present moment, resisting what you resist, and the mind’s tendency to cling to the negative.
Prana (subtle life force energy) is an important aspect of emotional well-being; whether it is up or down in the body determines our state of mind. Its low level has an impact on our emotional balance. Leaders are always concerned with high energy.
He mentioned various sources of energy, such as food, breath, and meditation, that can help us recover. One major source is the breath, and the session includes some basic breath awareness. The session’s main takeaways are simple meditation and the fact that 20 minutes of meditation is equivalent to 4-5 hours of deep sleep.
Mr. Anil Rajput, the chairperson of the ASSOCHAM CSR Council, stated during an ASSOCHAM webinar that “the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has ravished almost all spheres of life.” Humanity has suffered greatly. Pandemic crises have had a profound impact on people’s minds and bodies all over the world. The destruction has posed unprecedented and unimaginable challenges, and people are looking for alternative ways and means to recover from these potential issues.”Mr. Rajput went on to say that the good news this year is that it is the direct result of the medical fraternity’s indomitable spirit that we have a vaccine to fight these potent coronaviruses, which is expected to be available to the general public very soon.
Mr. Rajput stated emphatically that “the current year 2020 has also witnessed a new phenomenon of ‘work from home,’ which undoubtedly posed numerous formidable challenges for both employers and employees.” The employee’s major challenges are being disciplined while working and separating work and family hours. Employers’ primary expectation in new settings is the desired outcome.”Mr Rajput correctly stated that “the importance of health, yoga, walking, cycling, and healthy diets has gained vital importance by all.”
Mr. Rajput has kindly acknowledged the value of the Art of Living Foundation’s highly commendable and immense contributions to society at large.
The session moderator, Dr. Meenakumari Vakkalanka, Vice President, Art of Living Corporate Programs, asked pertinent questions during the Q&A session to make it more interesting and informative.
