COVID-19-related deaths are still occurring daily. Yesterday there were 2,595 deaths worldwide from COVID. The following statistics are mind boggling. Worldwide there has been 6.3 million deaths. In our country we have lost 1,044,000 people. Massachusetts’ total deaths are 20,709. In Hampden County, the number of deaths is 1,826. And in Westfield we mourn 138 of our community members.
Psychology experts say unless directly affected, we generally don’t grasp the magnitude of this many deaths. The public tends to become immune to the statistics.
Most of us have had to cope with a death of someone close sometime in our lifetime. This tremendous loss affects so many in so many different ways for the rest of our lives. We are never the same.
