A team of volunteers from Stony Brook Medicine welcomed hundreds of members of the Port Jefferson and surrounding communities to the annual Health & Wellness Fest on Saturday, April 23.
Hosted by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the Wellness Fest aims to promote health and well-being among residents of all ages. Stony Brook Medicine served as the lead sponsor of the event, which offered attendees a chance to engage with health and wellness professionals, learn about valuable resources and obtain free health screenings. The fair took place at The Meadow Club in Port Jefferson Station.
“Community health fairs are a great way for residents to learn about available services in a stress-free setting,” said Stony Brook Medicine Medical Radiographer Nancy Franke. “If a need arises in the future, they’ll know where to go.” 
Stony Brook Medicine had a commanding presence at the health fair with more than a dozen representatives from departments including Pediatric Trauma; Child Life Services/Stony Brook Children’s Hospital; Radiology, Stroke; Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease; Women’s Pelvic Health; Urology; OBGYN; Advanced Imaging; and the Stony Brook Cancer Center. All were on hand to answer questions and provide vital information about ways the community can stay healthy or find a specialty service. In addition, a team of staff members from Outpatient Operations provided blood pressure screenings to more than 50 attendees — a significant increase in screenings from an October 2021 fair held at the same location.
